    「歷史」教科書,是史學知識還是集體回憶?是教育工具還是政治手段? 中國自1905年「廢科舉、興學堂」後,在教育發展上可以說正式進入「教科書年代」。曾經,歷史教科書成為宣傳民族主義、塑造國民集體回憶的主要渠道,不同的歷史「事實」在不同的政治環境下各自表述。後來這種政治宣傳色彩鮮明的教材編寫方式漸被淘汰。 在今日社會,該如何編寫歷史教科書?這是教育界與文化界不斷探索的問題。 2013年夏,香港樹仁大學歷史系主辦了「近現代歷史科及其相關課題教科書國際學術研討會」,集結中國大陸、香港、澳門及台灣學者研討上述課題,從歷史教科書的功能性質切入討論,繼而回顧分析清末、民國以至1949年後海峽兩岸的教科書及教材,並論及歷史教學在現今社會的重整與責任。此乃兩岸四地學者跨越地域對歷史教育的一種重視,而本書正是是次研討會的成果結集。
