This is the eBook of the printed book and may not include any media, website access codes, or print supplements that may come packaged with the bound book. Audiologic Interpretation Across the Lifespan uses a case study approach to learning about diagnosis of hearing loss in clients of all ages. Ideal for use as a supplement or as a main text, this practical guide allows readers to familiarize themselves with real world cases, learn the testing procedures involved, think critically about the key concepts surrounding audiometry, and immerse themselves in problem-based learning. Learning objectives and practice questions allow students to learn the material covered in the book while references, recommended readings, enrichment projects and a bibliography allow students to continue and expand on their learning in the future. This textbook is divided into three sections. Section 1 is an overview of audiological testing procedures including pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance testing, otoacoustic emissions and auditory brainstem response testing. Section 2 is dedicated to pediatric audiometry and case studies that illustrate hearing disorders that are commonly found in this population, while Section 3 focuses on diagnosis of hearing loss in adult/older persons and the effects of aging on the human body with particular interest on the auditory mechanism.
