The Paradox of Power: Sino-American Strategic Restraint in an Era of Vulnerability

Description

This book confronts the paradox that as power grows, so can vulnerability. The basic reason for this is that the same factors that produce modern power –technological advancement and economic integration – also increase exposure to risk. The book suggests a way to mitigate U.S. and Chinese strategic vulnerabilities to each other.  It is written from an American perspective, with U.S. interests foremost in mind.  It ‘s core idea is that mutual strategic vulnerability calls for mutual strategic restraint.
