Were hic Christian readers mainly Jews or Gentiles? How did he arrange and reinterpret his sources? Is he primarily concerned with Christology or with Ecclesiology? The questions are numerous and touch on arguments which are of concern to contemporary theology as much as to first century history and biblical exegesis.
