This supplement will feature up to the minute coverage of the forthcoming Supreme Court decision on the Affordable Care Act. Scheduled for publication immediately following the release of the opinions in these cases, the Supplement will include an edited version of the significant opinions and relevant notes designed to help students understand the consequences of the opinions for the development of the health care system and health law in the United States. Notes and comments on the effects of the Affordable Care Act and the litigation on issues treated in the casebook will be included throughout the text. Keyed to the sixth edition of the Furrow Health Law casebook, this supplement also provides a valuable platform for those teaching health care using other materials. In addition to the Health Care Reform legislation, this supplement also addresses the consequences of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, the Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act of 2009, significant regulations issued recently, and public controversies over contraception, abortion and other issues. The 2012 Supplement will serve a s a bridge to the new Seventh Edition of the casebook, which will fully incorporate all legislative, judicial, administrative and political developments through the end of 2012, and will be available for classoom use in the Fall semester of 2013.
