Healthcare leaders have called for evidence-based practice (EBP) initiatives to improve patient outcomes. Pressure ulcers (PU) are considered a potentially preventable condition and the evidence to guide PU prevention has been published for more than a decade. Yet current PU prevalence and incidence rates in acute care settings remain unacceptably high and are responsible for an estimated 60,000 patient deaths per year.
