Artists in the second largest city in Indiana had many advantages in the 1970s: a century long and growing tradition of appreciation of the arts, eager and talented people in a variety of art disciplines and an expanding art museum and schools. What they didn't have was a place to meet professionally and exhibit their art. They could only talk, look at the moon and stars together and dream in cafes and on back porches. They had no gallery home. Forward-thinking leaders founded Artlink and through several locations it has grown to serve thousands of Fort Wayne artists and art lovers--and introduced cultural values to thousands more. This is that story, told by one who lived the story herself--from the back porches under the moon to the successful not-for-profit of today.
