This book will also appeal to anyone interested in understanding the experience of black students at historically white schools. In the context of talking about his struggle to overcome juvenile delinquency and a dysfunctional family, the author explores the doubts, fears, and perplexities related to being schooled with white children and having a turbulent family life. His writing is honest and self-disclosing, his perceptions keen and discerning.
