Eight student passengers and two crew members were trapped inside a locked and fast burning car and died before Montgomery County Fire and Rescue professionals could reach them. Interwoven into the story are the personal stories of the victims, the history of the former Baltimore and Ohio railroad line in Maryland (the historic builders of the site) and a trip into the grit, stress and dangers of railroad jobs that today remain basically unchanged from a century ago. Readers are also walked through interesting descriptions of how to operate a locomotive and how railroad signals and train brakes work. With this information they can solve the mystery of the accident.
