Description

The British Museum's collection of 'art mobilier' comes almost entirely from Magdalenian sites in Aquitaine. It includes 134 items from the excavations in 1863 of Lartet and Christy at La Madeleine and 68 from those of de Mortillet at Courbet, and 160 excavations at the Abri Montatstruc in the succeeding years. This catalogue provides for the first time, comprehensive descriptions and illustrations of all these pieces.
