In Lilliput, he discovers a miniature world; in Brobdingnag, a land of giants; in Laputa, a flying island, he encounters a society of speculators and projectors who have lost grip on everyday reality; and in the land of the Houyhnhnms, gentle horses come in contrast to the bestial Yahoos that closely resemble humans. Swift’s savage satirical prose views humankind in a distorted hall of mirrors as a diminished, magnified, and bestial species, presenting readers with an uncompromising reflection of our existence.
