This text is an introduction to the sociology of minority-dominant relations and was written for students who do not have extensive backgrounds in the social sciences. I have tried to make the subject matter coherent to these students, in part by applying a unified set of themes and concepts throughout the text. The analysis is consistent and continuous, even while examining multiple perspectives and a variety of viewpoints. I have tried to deal with the issues and tell the stories behind the issues in a way that makes the text both a pleasure to read and a demonstration of the power and importance of thinking sociologically.
