Authentic fashions of the First Ladies of the White House are illustrated in these fine photographs, which show the evolution in the styles women have worn in America from the early days of the Republic down to our own time. The latest dress in the collection is that worn by Mrs. Eisenhower at the inaugural ball in 1953. All the others are reproductions of the costumes on exhibit in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.--Front flap of book jacket.
