Designed for use by students in grades 5 through 9, this annotated bibliography of nearly 600 titles of fiction and nonfiction also serves as a resource for teachers, librarians, and parents in search of titles that might catch the attention of junior high and middle school students. The book presents annotations of books published in 1991 or 1992, along with a few titles published too late for the eighth edition and a few early 1993 releases. Titles are grouped by subject matter under four main headings: Imagining, Learning, Exploring, and Understanding. The book includes a special index which lists 150 "classics" of young adult literature from 1940 to 1990. It also includes subject, title, and author indexes and a directory of publishers. (RS).
