The experiences of high schools in the General Electric Foundation's College Bound program provide lessons for other outside funders and schools interested in using outside funds to help schools achieve specific goals, such as doubling the number of students who go to college, and the more general goal of school improvement. This evaluation provides information on the programs that were developed for the College Bound program, early indications of the effects of the various programs on promoting college attendance and on influencing changes in the high schools, and information on how the GE Foundation and local GE facilities provide support to schools beyond the actual grant.
