Abstract: Advice and guidelines about childhood nutrition are offered for parents and health professionals. Topics discussed are: preper diet during pregnancy; breast feeding; bottle feeding; solid food introduction; feeding the toddler; regulating food intake; childhood obesity; managing diarrhea; eating behaviors; feeding relationships between parents and children and feeding disorders. Various recommendations are provided to assist in solving feeding problems. The appendix includes the recommended daily dietary allowances, a weight-for-height table for women, nutrient content of human milk, cow's milk, milk-based formulas and soy formulas. Also included is a flouride supplement schedule.
