A full-colour sumptuous book, Portraits includes a comprehensive essay on painting in New Brunswick between 1970 and 2000 by New Brunswick Museum curator Peter Larocque, which introduces the reader to "portraits" of 30 selected artists. In addition, each chapter includes a short essay on the artist and his/her work, including biographical details and commentary on the work, a photographic portrait of the artist by New Brunswick photographer James Wilson, and a reproduction of one or more paintings by the artists.
