Description

The Art Book NEW WORLDS from Douglas and Shantelle Knight is a humorous and interesting journey into the lives of this remarkable couple who's artistic stylings are uniquely defined and different, yet often overlapping in subtle distinct ways. Since they met at Fullerton College, in California, Art and its creation has been their constant path. The enjoyment of creating art is clearly reflected throughout the book. There is a powerful display of over 100 paintings. The images of their art is captivating, Doug's strange, colorful, eyefull, guys, and his very cool musician paintings and Cubist Still Lifes. Shantelle's beautiful women, charming mermaids, and musicians reflect an interesting contrast. Thus ?Where Strange Meets Beautiful.' Their art over the Years has been labeled "Visionary Eccentrics", "Classical POP", "Body Sublime", "Mystic Beauties", and "Happy Hideous Creatures'. They are wonderful masters of color. Their Art lineage for those lovers of art history reflects the influences of many. They have a passion for Museums (especially the Norton Simon in Pasadena, CA. and the Paris Louvre.) They consider Museums their schooling playgrounds. As you read their book you feel the freedom and inspirational path they have traversed by living the artist life. They are creating and living Art hIstory. Their good friend the now famous Karl Denson, the Saxophonist for the Rolling Stones, and the leader of his own band "Karl Denson's Tiny Universe" is a significant character in the book for he has been a constant friend. Karl, Doug and Shantelle were all roommates during the college years. Doug and Karl were always practicing saxophone, playing in bands, sparring and practicing martial arts along with shantelle. The three of them also moved up to the redwoods for several months and lived in a tent together while enjoying the wondrous beauty of the California Redwood forests. Their music world pictorial is well represented with musician's and bands which nicely rounds out the book and vividly shares the intimate world of music and art. Doug and Shantelle are clearly prolific artists and the book is an entertaining read and pictorial.
