After being accused of murder of the acting King Frederick, who assumed position in Josephus' absence, Josephus must find a way to solve the murder, find the Devil's Mask, regain control of his kingdom and root out the traitors involved before creating a new governmental system and making the choice whether to stay and rule Kartenon or return to his home in Key West.
