Description

Excerpt from Who's Who in California, Vol. 1: A Biographical Reference Work of Notable Living Men and Women of California; Two Years, 1942-1943 We do not claim that the volume is complete - repeated requests for data from certain individuals have failed to elicit any response. We do claim, however, that each and every name appear ing in this volume was nominated for that distinction by one, or more, Whose name had already been accepted for inclusion by our Committee of Ten. It is hoped that the pages of this edition will bear their own testimony to the sincere efforts of the editor to present a volume completely different to any biograph ical Work ever attempted in the United States. We refer particularly to the name, title and degrees being at the top of the biography - Where they belong. We have, also, in mind the paragraphing of each separate phase of an individual's career (headed in italics). While every human effort will be spent to improve each succeeding edition, the fondest hopes of the editor will be realized if this volume serves in a'small measure, the pur pose for which it was intended, that of a quick and ready reference to the Notable Living Men and Women of the State of California.
