Fundamental to understanding human sexual expression is reliable and valid measurement and assessment. Many instruments have been developed to measure a myriad of sexuality-related states, traits, behaviors, and outcomes. In Handbook of Sexuality-Related Measures, more than 200 instruments are reproduced, accompanied by the necessary information for their use in research, as well as educational and clinical settings. Measures relating to more than 50 topics are included. Examples are abortion, aging, arousal, general and specific attitudes and behavior, contraception, dysfunctions, education, experience, gender identity, homosexuality, ideology, jealousy, knowledge, masturbation, orgasm, rape, and sexually transmitted diseases. Each chapter describes the development and appropriate use of each instrument, giving information on timing, scoring, and interpretation. Reliability and validity data are,summarized and completely referenced. Nearly all articles include the entire instrument; others provide illustrative content from the instrument and give all necessary information to obtain the instrument.
