They were often called acircuit riders.a This is the story of one of them. It takes place in western Nebraska during the last third of the nineteenth century. Jack Staffordas mother was killed in the crossfire of a bank holdup. His father, a lawman, went after the killers after sending Jack to live with his grandparents. Jackas grandfather, a preacher, supervised his education and got him started preaching. His first experiences in what becomes his chosen profession are an eye-opener. Going to a Bible school is another experience. He and the country and people he loves are changing rapidly. How will they cope with the changes?
