It is a story of romantic love, frustrated ambition, domestic life, set in a time when the world seemed in a state of flux and the sixties offered a new world vision. It is written with a light-hearted touch, and its main purpose is to entertain, amuse, and convey the spirit of the time, portraying the opulent comfort and lifestyle of the hotel along with the social niceties and restraints. Remembering, too, the kindly, gentle, and uncomplaining staff who have made a long and lasting impression. It should appeal to a cross section of people but especially to women everywhere who are able to recall their halcyon days of youth.
