Once upon a time there was a little girl named Kenzie, age 5. She and her little sister Holly, age 3, live in far west Texas which is known as the desert. Kenzie and Holly have been watching television and movies about Christmas and they are so inquisitive about the white stuff coming from heaven and falling on all the people. While the girls are helping mom in the kitchen, during the season, some of the food is strange to them, but Mom teaches them how different good foods cross cultural boundaries and the girls learn a little bit of appreciation for living so close to New Mexico and Mexico. Kenzie has been told that Christmas is the season of miracles so she gets it in her head to ask Santa for one miracle.
