Christianne Ashton Henderson experienced a serious accident but was able to maintain her faith as she received God's amazing healing, grace and mercy. She had been singing "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone), almost every minute for a week before the fall. The messages and serious worship of this song and all of the Chris Tomlin's songs led her closer to Jesus Christ than she had ever been. Each song was words that God was speaking to lift her up and encourage her in these down times. As she listened to the inspirational music, the Lord led her to write the words of My Chains Are Gone, His Mercy Reigns, and follow His will in her life. She continues to worship Him each day with the astounding Chris Tomlin songs. Christianne hopes that My Chains Are Gone, His Mercy Reigns will help others see the blessing that God bestows upon us and that they will draw closer to Him, listening to the calling of the songs that are quoted in each chapter. She continues to volunteer in her church, St. James UMC in Montgomery, Alabama. She has been a resident of Montgomery since beginning attendance at Huntingdon College in 1959. She and her husband, Lester, married after their sophomore year. She graduated in 1963 and taught English and French in the public school system. She became very interested in Special Education and earned a Master's Degree in Special Education and Administration at Auburn University Montgomery. Her later service in Montgomery Public Schools included working as a psychometrist, teaching special education, supervising special education teachers and serving as a principal. Final retirement in 2008 was difficult but she has enjoyed life since that time, focusing on God's purpose for her and spending time with her wonderful eight grandchildren and great grandchild."
