Description

The Shy Mystic encourages readers to join in the contemplation of the joy of being human, but also to take responsibility for the extended part of our faculties: being open to Grace, to Jesus, and to the aura of Holy Spirit. By being open to the inner sight, we allow ourselves to fulfill our years in grander and kinder expressions, once thought distant and impossible. It is what many of us pursue; suddenly or slowly; surprisingly, we find it bequeathed in sublime rewards: God, in Jesus, and in Holy Spirit. The specificity of being an individual is unique in our society and yet common to us all. We keep the Faith. Courage is not without foundation. We seek an understanding of our destiny in prayer, and wonder in seriousness, often aloud, what fate is in store for us. You will be surprised. Our presence within society is not adverse to illumination; it is not a contradiction of the pursuit of happiness. Do not turn away from the light. Yet we must be practical as we live in the world; there is a certain order to be conformed to, but mystery, the unknown ideal we need to satisfy, makes its claim on us as well; it does announce its presence often. Superstition aside, we engage in Quests, physical accomplishments, and daring feats; yet there remains the challenge of contemplation: the inner life activates the mind and declares its rationality to us. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have endowed our intellect as well as our Soul. In this blessing, in this pursuit, I have written my adventures. Call it Spirit if you will, but in my defense I know we have all been touched by the Sublime, and have not regretted its appearance. Amen.Whatever form or happenstance of this occurrence, it is mostly beneficial to us and casts us in kindness. We find that we have become a little more human. If we would live here part of each day, a moment, in minutes, or a half-hour we would share the mystery, the gift, its very presence. After being shy about these thoughts for many years, I have gathered enough gumption and courage, without embarrassment, to open my notebooks, dusting off the pages produced by my Olivetti portable typewriter, circa 1963, 1965, and opened my computer's contents to a public viewing, an invitation to join a journey of human intent. Is it not time to explore your world, to give credence to your thoughts, private and sacred as they may be: a voyage calls to you. There is much reality in the world today; yet a note of alarm. Among the beautiful times, harmful, destructive and unkind incidents are manifested daily. To repair society, we must implore by conscience, and seek out a radical kindness if we are to prosper and coexist. I dedicate myself, shy no more; won't you join me on my excursion? Whatever your path, feel free to participate on these pages. The teachments from The Shy Mystic books are a prequel to "A Poet's Introduction to Jesus, The Rules of Existence". This in turn is configured as a book seven within the broader "Jesus Meditation series" of twelve available online currently.
