From humble beginnings in Ghana, a young girl dared to dream an impossible dream of becoming a doctor. Her inspiration was the plight of women who suffered needless distress resulting from inadequate healthcare. With faith in God, she worked very hard, made sacrifices, and pursued excellence. The dream was frustrated in Ghana, but a door opened for its resuscitation in America. She took advantage of it. There were detours and hardships, but she never gave up. After about twenty years, the dream came true. Along the way, she married, raised four wonderful children, and earned an MS, PhD, and finally an MD at a ripe age of forty four. She is now equipped to go back to help improve women's health in Ghana. America is truly a land of opportunity, but one must be willing to pay the price to take advantage of it. Theresa was truly made in Africa and she made it in America-literally through blood, sweat, and tears-all by trusting God!
