Time. Days divided into increments of hours, into minutes, into seconds. Each and every one of those seconds provides an opportunity to be someone's defining moment. A moment in time that provides insight, knowledge, realization, truth. It may be years before you recognize that defining moment. Often, it is in retrospect that we see more clearly. It is with honor and humility that we, the members of the Decatur Writers Collaborative in Decatur, Georgia, share some of our defining moments. Poignant, sometimes humorous, always touching, these are the instances in our lives that have shaped us, changed our individual perspectives, and ultimately led us to each other to form this wonderfully diverse and talented family. Perhaps you can relate to one of our defining moments. Or you may have a defining moment or two of your own. Or maybe your defining moment has yet to occur. Wherever you are on your path, remember this: any moment in time can be a defining moment. Even this one. The Decatur Writers Collaborative is a group of individuals who came together in the fall of 2014. It is a diverse group of people with different levels of writing skills, as well as interests in a variety of writing genres. These writers have formed a cohesive unit akin to a family. This, our first anthology, is the result of that cohesive unit.
