Rising Tide Writers is a writing group from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and this anthology is a collection of our prose and poetry. We are all working toward publication. Of the twenty-three members, ten have published books, and of that group, five have multiple books to their credit. At our meetings, we hear writing as diverse as we are. We read, listen, edit, ask, and help each other. No one is an expert, and no one has all the answers. We have various skills and experiences, and we share what we know. We discuss each our writing, and often help determine whether there are words to cross out. We debate whether there really are rules, and if so, which of the hundreds of them we should follow.The short stories, excerpts, essays, and poetry collected in this volume are as diverse as we are. You'll find fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, fantasy, YA and children's stories, history: ancient and modern, humor, an unusual cookbook, railroads, and much more.This anthology is the work of grown-ups who revel in the childlike freedom of telling a good story.
