When I got married in 1997, I embarked on a journey to write a Christmas letter that our families and friends would look forward to pulling from their mailboxes. I wanted them to laugh at our letter - not because it was poorly written, but because it was amusing. But then, something unexpected happened… One winter day, an anesthesiologist at my wife's hospital (my wife doesn't actually own the hospital, she just works there) approached her. He said, "Your family Christmas letter was hilarious." "I don't recall sending you a letter, Doctor - (squinting at his nametag) Morphiney," my wife replied politely. "You didn't," he smiled. "One of the nurses pinned it up on the staff bulletin board with a 'Must Read' sticky note on it." Requests for the letter from different hospital employees my wife didn't know -and even requests for back issues of our letters for cross reference - continued to happen each December… So, now, during this Holiday Season of Giving, we've decided the time has come to share our "book" of letters with EVERYONE - and that includes YOU.
