American Dreams is the story of a young American mans life, Martinez through his first 30 years of how he dreamed of America in his childhood in a foreign land, how as young man he met America at the age of 16 and how in High School in Massachusetts he met the American promise and the potential of America. Martinez fell in love with America and as a patriot served for nearly one year in the United States Marine Corps with an honorable discharge. Martinez then journeys to his academic life, becoming a historian and beginning to see the problems of inequalities that troubled America. Martinez began seeing how America was quickly developing into a society that prided more wealth and birth than talent and virtue, becoming a less meritocratic society. Martinez like many other young Americans see how the country they love is changing towards a more unequal society, how Martinez still loves the country that he dreamed as a child as what Winthrop, Martinez even would live in the Massachusetts city named after him, how America was the city in the shining hill and todays generation had a patriotic obligation to make the same promises of the American Dreams a reality for the next generation and the ones to come in the American experience.
