Description
Bridgeport neighborhood is the home of five Chicago mayors. It is 1947. Martin attempts to kill the priest who molested his nephew and James Finlayson, aide to the Mayor of Chicago leads a conspiracy to keep the incident secret to protect the boys, the Church and the City of Chicago. Martin, bad boy son of the rich and powerful owner of the Cook County liquor monopoly sees the intervention as meddling and makes James his target of the month. Gabriella, insatiable wife of Martin's older brother Jimmy, the heir apparent to the mob supported liquor monopoly seeks acceptance by Chicago's elite at any cost. On failing to kill or dissuade James, Martin terrorizes James fiance and her four year old son. James and his brother Adam, a Catholic Priest are forced to kill Martin to protect the secret, the Church, themselves, James' fiancee and her son. Jimmy and Gabriella use and ultimately assist James as their interests merge. The Church remains quiet. New and untried psychotherapy approaches are tried on the molested altar boys. Postwar Chicago mob rule, patronage and corruption force our heroes to form unconventional alliances. Martin dies, but . . ."
