From its inception, Atlas Poetica has published tanka and related literature. Not just the five line forms of kyoka and gogyoshi, but also the closely related Japanese six line forms sedoka and mondo, and more recently, the cherita (chair-ee-tah) invented by ai li. Although Atlas Poetica has published cherita before, this issue is packed with nearly 400 cherita along with our usual features. When we announced a special focus on cherita for the issue, the response was overwhelming. ATPO 27 is the single largest collection of cherita in print at this time. The reader who wants to learn more about this engaging new form will do well to start here.
