This book takes a look at how various primitive cultures saw the Europeans arrival in their cultures as the arrival of long-awaited gods that had been foretold about in their myth and folklore. This certainly happened with the Aztec of Central Mexico, Africa, North American Indians, Maori of New Zeland, the Carib Tainos "discovered" by Columbus, the Tarascans of Michoacan, the Mayas of Yucatan and Guatemala, as welll as the Incas of Peru. The myths held by some of these societies were similar to the current myths held in certain religious circles of a "Second Coming." As a results of their trustworth nature their societies were destroyed. It turned out that the invaders were barbarians rather than Gods. Our belief in a "Second Coming" is similar to the beliefs of these societies. If we keep believing in a "Second coming" we could suffer a similar fate as these societies.
