The first section includes information on the history of the rose and an explanation of the different types of rose and how they are classified, information on planning a rose garden, planting cultivating, and pruning roses. A USDA hardiness zone map is included. The second section contains A-Z entries for wild roses and cultivated roses. Each entry includes the roses name, code name and synonyms, if any; horticultural and color classification; description and any specific cultivation requirements; range of hardiness zones; breeder's name, country and date of registration; the rose's parentage and any rewards received; and for many, a color photograph. The third section contains a reference table listing each rose and its bloom color, size, type and shape; fragrance amount; flowering habit and incidence; and petal shape. Also in this section are notes on rose breeders, a glossary, a bibliography, and cross references from code names and synonyms to the rose name.
