Description

Kemple Glass, 1945-1970 tells the story of this company, while illustrating its wide variety of products, including tableware, decorative plates, novelties, animal dishes, figurines, and free-hand wares. The John E. Kemple Glass Works operated for 25 years, first in East Palestine, Ohio, later at Kenova, West Virginia. Their motto was "Authentic Antique Reproductions", as they produced fine quality milk glass and colored glassware in the original molds from McKee, George Duncan & Sons, Co-Operative Flint, and other out-of-business glass companies. When the plant closed in 1970, most of the molds were sold to Wheaton Industries. The wares made by Wheaton from Kemple molds are also documented. A must-read for collectors and students of milk glass, colored pattern glass, slag glass, animal dishes, novelties, and West Virginia handmade glass.
