The reader will meet Afghan mujahidin as they fight a Soviet Army of monumentally superior force. Spanning a stretch of time from 1975 in Ireland to 1991 in New York, much of the story takes place in the heart of 1990 Afghanistan and across the USSR in its final weeks and days in 1991.
