One can hardly turn on the news (radio or television) without hearing about a new scandal, a new disgrace or dishonorable event surrounding the integrity and character of men in their personal and public lives. Is it any wonder that our young men and young ladies are often stumbling about with no real role models and guides to teach them how to live, how to be, how to exist in honor and respect. A few years ago, I began a journey exploring both the men and their episodes that I call, ?Bad Boys?. I found out that there are ?Good Things About Bad Boys?! Tucked quietly it seems in the Old Testament is a Bible Verse that declares, ?he that finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favor of the Lord?. Hmmmm?.does this mean what I think it means? Could it be true that God from the very beginning designed women to walk, live and exist along side ?bad boys?? And if so?we must consider that all women are first daughters, sisters, aunts, mothers, or even mentor/teachers and or grandmothers. These females not only can be ?the good things? about ?bad boys? but can help ?bad boys? become ?good boys? as they mature and develop. What compounds this syndrome? In these days the Bad Boys syndrome seems to be a growing phenomenon. It even seems that such behavior is becoming fashionable. People seem to be intrigued by rebel athletes, entertainers, and politicians. These provocative personalities can be found in the White House, Church House, Jail House, School House and Crack Houses across the land. In light of the horrific stories that fill the news and my own personal struggles with Good Men/Bad Boy situations, I decided to ask the Lord how I could minister to the needs of the men who fit this description, as well as bring understanding to the women who share their lives as wives, girlfriends, mothers, daughters, sisters, and coworkers. In her book, Good Things About Bad Boys, Dr. Wanda Davis-Turner explores what goes into making a ?bad boy? and how women everywhere can recognize a good man when they find one. Whether friend, boyfriend, coworker, or husband, by outlining the different behavioral and environmental factors that go into making a bad boy, she prepares readers to stand up for what they truly deserve and create relationships of all types that are full of good, and how those good men can create a society that is truly functional and uplifting for everyone. Who knows?the bad boy you help may end up your spouse, your employer, your best friend?etc.
