Through numerous affairs and a wide range of historical files, an assorted picture of social activities of the grass roots in Mao Zedong era was outlined in the book, which focused on the intense social status and concentrated on the deep thinking of social problems. The book also reveals the essence of the Cultural Revolution, which is billions of people were instigated to eliminate dissidents and purge bureaucrats by Mao Zedong who was by virtue of the prestige of being worshiped infinitely, and finally the evil bureaucrats reset and then retaliated the insurgent masses.
