A young boy is awakening to strange noises every night, in the woods behind his house. He hears rocks clacking together and tree branches breaking. Although he cannot tell what it is, he knows it's something big. One day, in his backyard, he found some big foot prints. He followed them into the woods and for the first time he saw the monster peek out at him from behind a tree. The boy's not sure if he should make friends with him or wait for another day...or next month...or maybe...even...next year. Pat Henkel has lived in Central Oregon for 17 years. She has a love of photography, poetry, and writing stories. She's been writing poetry and short stories since 3rd grade. Many of her poems have been published by The International Library of Poetry.
