Robotics is a branch of engineering which is concerned with the conception, design, construction and operation of robots. It is an interdisciplinary field overlapping with artificial intelligence, electronics, mechatronics, computer science nanotechnology and bioengineering. Robots are designed to replicate human action. Today, robots are being used for domestic, military and commercial purposes. Many robots that are being designed are inspired by natural designs, thus contributing to the field of bio-inspired robotics. Much of the research in robotics is directed at the design and manufacture of new types of robots. A new innovation in robot design is evolutionary robots. This is based on the use of evolutionary computation to develop improved robots. The aim of this book is to present researches that have transformed the field of robotics aided its advancement. The topics covered in this extensive book deal with the core areas of robotics. It will help the readers in keeping pace with the rapid changes in this field.
