The legend of Jesse James was born of the war between the states and depending on whether one's disposition was pro-union or pro-confederacy; Jesse may have been considered either a demon or an avenging angel. An old man named J. Frank Dalton had emerged, with some evidence, to prove he was the notorious outlaw.
