Amy, the only daughter to Indian immigrants Nandini and Ashok, has always been given free reign to live her own life. Her parents, though tethered to tradition and family obligation, have raised their bright and independent daughter to trust her heart and her mind. Even so, they are surprised when the single Amy turns up pregnant to a family barbecue. Concerned about the decisions Amy is making, her parents struggle to allow her to become her own person and support her wherever possible. But the situation is more complicated than it first appears as Amy's baby is not destined to be the grandchild Ashok and Nandini so long for. Can Amy reconcile her family's love and support with her decisions to make an unconventional choice?
