A young writer gets a job at a real estate company on the upper west side of Manhattan in New York City in the late 1980s and finds himself in a chaotic, tense filled room on his first day of work that he can't help but contrast to the quiet walk he has taken looking at the dogwood trees in bloom in Spring. He soon acquaints himself with the personality and idiosyncrasies of those he works with and finds himself involved with two of the female agents. His relationship with the older of the two agents soon confronts him with her destructive lifestyle, using drugs, and makes him realize that the love they have for each other is not strong enough for her to turn away from her drug habit and sees her spiraling out of control because of her addiction.
