Description

In the two act play, "Here and There", Satan joins God for a quiet chat and together they discuss the meanings of free will, good and evil. God illustrates the issues by highlighting problems throughout the ages; from the debacle in the Garden of Eden to the monumental cock up at the demise of the Solar System. Satan is also shown four other periods in history: why Stonehenge was built, the problems the Romans had with petty bureaucracy in Britannia, the awful bigotry surrounding the American Declaration of Independence and what Wordsworth really wanted his famous poem "Daffodils" to look like. We also find out which three works of literature were ghost-written by God and why. Whilst the play may be performed as a whole, it has been written so that scenes one to six can be staged as stand-alone works of up to ten minutes apiece. The second play, "Free Will", is the discussion between God and Satan in "Here and There" that has been amended and presented as a short one act piece that features just the two characters. In the third piece,"Tidings of Comfort and Joy", we see another take on the Nativity story. This one act play includes the character of the Clerk that features in "Here and There". It is amazing how many Health and Safety regulations were contravened, not only whilst the three Wise Persons and the Shepherds made their way to Bethlehem but also in the stable itself. It is suitable for either secondary school children or adults to perform.
