Blair and Fred Sadler are identical twins. They were raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania by parents who mentored them about the importance of education, and exposing them to the arts and to nature. The boys grew up believing that every thing was possible. Then they proved it. They reached adulthood during the tumultuous Sixties. Fred became a doctor, Blair an attorney. Through diligence and purpose - with unique moments engendered by serendipity - they be came key players in three of the most important programs in modern medical history. First, they worked at the National Institutes of Health to formulate the national organ transplant tation program. Next they brought to fruition the physician's assistant concept to provide healthcare to tens of millions of Americans, many newly-covered by Medicare and Medicaid. At Yale University they helped to design and establish the Emergency Medical System for the state of Connecticut, which, through their subsequent efforts at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, became the model for 911 EMS across the country.
