Despite the numerous competitive advantages of one-of-a-kind production (OKP), the low efficiency and high costs associated with OKP companies threaten to push their business opportunities into the hands of cheaper overseas suppliers. One-of-a-Kind Production introduces a novel strategy and technology to help OKP companies to efficiently mass-produce customized products. In One-of-a-Kind Production, case studies from OKP companies are used to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the OKP strategy and technology. These case studies include: a structural steel construction company, a manufacturer of specifically ordered compressors and refrigeration systems, a customized high pressure vessel manufacturing company, and a custom window and door manufacturer. To help readers understand OKP strategy and technology, the authors offer a year’s free access to the OKP Management and Control Software System. This system is based on a new integrated production control and management concept, namely product production structure. It is a useful tool – and One-of-a-Kind Production is a valuable guide – for production engineers and managerial staff in manufacturing companies, as well as for university researchers and graduate students.
This book presents ten chapters divided into five sections. Section 1 discusses rescheduling strategies, policies, and methods for production scheduling. Section 2 presents two chapters about flow shop scheduling.

Kanban systems are not applicable in one-of-a-kind production based on infrequent and unpredictable orders. The type of production most likely to benefit from kanban is one that deals with parts using common processes.
The embedded manufacturing systems are vertically networked with business processes and horizontally connected to disperse ... One-of-a-kind production, changeability, adaptability, modular design, smart industry Introduction Product ...
Furthermore , tooling is a one - of - a - kind design problem ; there are few concerns about multiple manufacturing techniques . Testing the tooling design is accomplished when it goes into use , and any corrections needed are ...
Only one of the studied approaches could be classified in this dimension; the model proposed by Illmer et Vielhaber [45] identifies the ... plant pipe fabrication [19], and a boat constructor with a one-of-a-kind production [11].

This paper forms a part of that study, but limits its focus to the implementation approach that is followed and the process steps that are taken during this specific implementation process. The aim of this paper is to provide insights ...
(3) No consideration as to cycle times for varied models is given for mixed-model production. 'One-of-a-kind' production made in the JIT production mode as illustrated in Example 16.3 does not assure minimum cost, as pointed out in Note ...
it became possible to run a one of a kind production efficiently. Most present day CADCAM factories reach their ROI point after 3-5 years. They can run 1-3 shifts, producing 1500 to 2000 m” (16,145.88 ft to 21,527.84 ft” of floor-wall ...
