This text brings together studies on Algerian adolescents. The central line of argument is that current psychological theories do not deal with important aspects of health and development which are outside Western ideologies. The study attempts to show that development is not only about how a proportion of adolescents grow, but it also stresses the major role played by environmental, cultural and external factors.
