"Despite the reliance on groundwater in the Ti-Tree Basin, relatively little information is known about the deeper aquifers. This is despite information suggesting that the Ti-Tree Basin is (in places) infilled to depths of at least 320 metres with sediments, including hydraulically conductive sand-richlayers. The deeper successions were encountered by initial government drilling programs (Edworthy,1967) and some early mineral exploration (O’Sullivan, 1973) ... Following initial data evaluation, new research in the Ti-Tree Basin for this study focused on better understanding the nature of the deeper aquifer."--P. iii.
