Description

The 'Footprints in time' longitudinal study in Australia investigates how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children's early years affect their development. Two cohorts will be followed: 960 babies, aged 6 to 18 months old, and 727 children, aged 3 to 4 years old. This report presents findings from the Wave 5 data, with the participants now all at school. Part A of the report presents new information learning skills, sleep, dental health, peers and friends, pets, family and social support, play, life satisfaction, parenting efficacy, housing and mobility, housing conditions, major life events, parental engagement in education, school enrolment and attendance, and the transition to school. Part B presents feature articles on special topics, including language use and diversity, the impact of multiple disadvantage on social and emotional difficulties, and the impact of fathers on children's wellbeing.
